DPV (english)

The PBN is one of the twelve member associations of the German Scouts Federation (DPV) which represents according to the DPV around 29.000 children, teens and young adults nationwide. Therefore it acts for a very large group of scouts in all of Germany.

The DPV sees itself as an interconfessional and politically independent umbrella organisation and represents as a member of the German Fedral Youth Council the interests of twelve different scout associations.

Founded at the beginning of the 1970s, the DPV was at first called “Deutscher Pfadfinder e.V.” – German Scouts e.V. – and was renamed to “Deutscher Pfadfinderverband” in 1972. The umbrella organisation is decentralised so that each association may be able to uphold their independence. In doing so the DPV supports by offering special activities, certain events and further education opportunities.

the umbrella organisation thrives on the diversity of it’s member associations and shares in the idea of nurture and life after our scouting principles as well as the connectedness through shared ideas and concepts.

It is possible for us to participate in the working commitees “DPV 3000” (social and ecological sustainability), youth politics (the shaping of youth politics in society according to scouting principles), and in the prevention network (aising awareness for respecting boundaries to help young people develop), all within the DPV.
